2009 C&C Prize Ceremony

Dr. Fumitada Itakura, a Professor Emeritus of Nagoya University has been selected as a laureate of the 2009 C&C Prize, for his pioneering research and the development of highly efficient voice-coding technology with analysis-synthesis methods for speech.

2009 Kyoto Prize

Dr. Isamu Akasaki, a University Professor of Nagoya University, has been selected as a laureate of the 2009 Kyoto Prize for his persistent research on gallium nitride (GaN) for many years toward the realization of blue LEDs.

  Departments of Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Information Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering have been combined as the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, from April 1, 2004.
  New Department is composed of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications and Computer Science. Laboratory structure has been also modified. Details are indicated in Organization/Laboratories

  • Research projects of the young researchers forum in the COE program, will be presented at Room-IB071 on 5:00 pm, March 10, 2003

Two projects were accepted as 21st Century COE (Center of Excellence) Program.

Information about COE program
The Program will establish research and education bases (centers of excellence) across a range of academic disciplines. These COEs will work to elevate the standard of Japanese research to the world's highest level while fostering creative people of a caliber to become world leaders in their respective fields. They will also help to raise the universities' international competitiveness and to enhance their unique characteristics.
